Okay, I Got These. And I Thankful

.

.

“I kept remembering myself, “Tomorrow’s your last day. Tomorrow’s the last day.”

That started like a week before I left.”

.

Most of the time I cannot believe I have gone this far, living far away from my root and make living by working days and nights, for years. It sounds like a joke every time there is a conversation in my head when will I detach myself from where I am living at the moment and start something new. At somewhere new, further. Find myself among new faces I had never seen before in my brown coat, in not so crowded morning. Giving my system sometimes to adapt to a chilly and windy morning in autumn. Hiding my two hands in my pockets even after I wear gloves. Trust me, I am still keeping those scenes with some reasonable beliefs, someday when I read this post again, I have already lived in that life (fingers-crossed).

Three years ago when I had no clue we would all face terrible chaos called a world pandemic, I wrote a few things down in my diary on what I wanted to eat when I got back to my root. I was smiling when I was writing them because I knew some wouldn’t be accomplished, such a funny thing that always happens. Either I am forgetting a few of them or I do not have enough time to do so. After three years, I could finally tick most of what I wrote in my diary.

Even though I decided not to travel but I had so many simply happiness when I was there: having a peaceful nap after 1 PM and waking up before 3 PM, that one was such a luxury. Shopping for new outfits after three years? somehow it shocked me a bit how much I spent but let me be wise, it wasn’t that much when I divided the total amount into three (3 years right?! that made sense), what else again…

I rehearsed when I knew I only had some days left in Indonesia which meant that the time to say goodbye again had come closer.  Exactly a week before my departure date, I said this every single evening: “Tomorrow you’re going to fly! hello real world!”. I purposely thought it won’t hurt me that much facing the reality that I only had a few days left, leaving all those comfortable things (plus the food!). And funny enough, it worked. But that is probably not going to work if I am standing on a chilly autumn morning with a warm kanelsnegl, scarf on my neck, smiling, a week after I accomplish something big I have been dreaming for. Manifesting the last sentence (another fingers-crossed)

.

Here what I want to share to you for what I could count as one of the highlights of the trip…it’s time to pamper your eyes with what I ate during my short stay in my hometown, Surabaya. Scroll slowly so you could imagine the heavenly taste from each one….

I will stop writing, let these pictures speak the rest :)

On the next post, I will share some snacks and food when I was outside (meeting friends or even Netflix time at home!) so this post won’t be too long. If you wonder, all were taken with an iPhone 12 Pro Max, on my desk. In a room I always stay in my mom’s house (damn, can’t wait to say ” from my own house” on this blog! Very soon hopefully *another fingers-crossed*).

From My Window

“The day I confirmed my date to travel back to Indonesia, I did manage time to set my flight as comfortable as possible. The window seat for a long haul might be the best choice. At least, to capture some moments above the clouds.

Oh, I played folklore from the on-board entertainment.”

Reminiscing Old Phones & Random Moments Via iPhone

.

.

I remember how it felt when I received a gift from my sister which was the first mobile phone I ever had, Nokia 2112.

.

Few months before I handed mine, I always imagined how cool it was if I was walking, passing the crowd and the mobile phone was ringing. It was tardy in my third year at high school when I first got mine while most of my friends had those fancy ones. Back then, Nokia was ahead of time. I remember various “out-of-the-box” designs applied on the mobile phone yet I was enough with a very handy one in lilac. The way I imagined I was so cool for sending a text with my Nokia to my friends just to ask if the next day at school we would have an exam came to real.

Then the trend for changeable phone cases was in as well as various designs and phone accessories. From 2112 I got upgraded to 3220, my world, that phone was so cool back then, launched with a fun feature, LED light on the body. It wasn’t that long until I changed to another “quite-quirky” phone called Nokia 7610 (whatsss!! I remember the unusual looking phone in red, white and black!! – trust me, I had to Google the series). It was crystal clear in mind I had 7610 when I started college. Photographing via mobile phone was an epic experience even the pixel was so limited :)

From Nokia, my mobile phone adventure flew to Samsung. I do not remember what series my first Android phone was but I remember it was white with a better quality camera. When I left Indonesia for the first time and started working overseas, I got an upgraded Android as a reward for myself, from myself. Until later the phone was lost when I left from a meeting in the evening. I recalled it was gone when I had to return to check the screening system twice and found nothing. Few days later I closed my eyes by spending my saving and got a Blackberry (who remember BBM, and the pop-up sound, and the emoticons, and BBM status?!).

Blackberry Bold 9900 to Sony Xperia Acro S then I finally landed on iPhone 5 (my first iPhone was iPhone 5! :)).

iPhone 5 accidentally fell and got broken –> iPhone 5 again, just because I had thought twice on getting an upgraded iPhone 5S (but no! I was diligent enough on saving money, lol) –> iPhone 7 –> and the current one, iPhone X –> iPhone 12 (blue one bitte, who knows! LOL, I’m still okay with iPhone X).

Some random iPhone photos from an iPhone X to end this random post :)

In The Mood Of Flatlays

flatlays1

It was started on Saturday night when I wanted to just drew something with watercolor because it’s been long since I attended basic design class years back. Been trying few times and found that it wasn’t as easy as I thought. Even just for a simple object like a leaf (sounds like I need serious practice). So it ended with abstract lines using red color. Why red? Cause it felt like I missed somebody outside there then (everyone was wondered who is E that I always mention on my Instagram page?).

From an abstract drawing to few flatlays-play, I thought I shouldn’t share these only on my IG page but here too.

As I wish my day-off today could be more and more longer. Unfortunately it’s 10:03PM already.

Cherries Play II

It took me so long to write something about best friends in Bahasa. Once I had a will to write, I stopped. No words fitted on the sentences, too bad. Instead, I want to share some accidental shots last Sunday when I came back from grocery shopping in the afternoon and brought some cakes home. When I found cherry in the store even the price was higher because US Dollars is strong right now, I took it home as a gift for myself.

I didn’t even have an idea to snap them before I enjoyed later, then this happened. Sony NEX-5 versus iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 are those last three pictures below. I did a photograph of cherries before, in case you’re interested to compare it with this post ;).

I didn’t count how many times I played this catchy song on iTunes (even I love more by watching the video, looooovely visuals on the clip!). I enjoy different music genres, from this old Dangdut song, one from Robbie Williams, until this version from Nathan Hartono. Cinematography from this v clip is beautiful, love those wild animals on the scenes!

Well, good night peeps!

Good Times

We all have our definition of a good time. Having a best friends-talk with coffee is my version of what is a good time or, an opportunity enjoying delicious food with my family. On this post, I’d compiled some good times I had when I was really, really enjoyed quality times with my best friends. Reminiscing those moments makes me realize that life is how we should enjoy every precious time with everyone we loved, and let it be a good time.

Many coffee-scenes on our table via iPhone 6 on this post! Let’s start! :)

A | First one was a coffee-scene when I landed in Abu Dhabi airport. A good time I had was simply amazing there, just after I flew 8 hours from here. Ah, annual leave is always a very very good time. I remember I traveled on fasting month when I left by 9 am from this country and landed just after iftar time in Abu Dhabi. It’s mean I was still fasting on the plane so I didn’t take my meal :). I always enjoy my flight-meal every time I travel back home yet that time I still had good time while I had nothing in my tummy. Yep, my excitement for another 8 hours to Indonesia was the reason. When I landed in Abu Dhabi airport which is smaller than Dubai and less confusing, I took a simply light food for my iftar. Just a cup of hot cappuccino and panna cota while I was waiting for my next flight (I kept it light cause I always worry if I have to use airplane restroom for a long in international flight).

B | Second, a good time with my childhood best friend, Sohib. We had a good time that day watching Ant-Man together in the cinema. Anything better than enjoying an afternoon with your best friend and movie?. Fifteen minutes before the movie played, we shared some sweets on our table even I have to admit that the taste of that rolled-crepes with ice cream on top wasn’t delish as how it looks here. But wait, how could I resist taking picture of them on that super cute table? :)

GoodTimes3

GoodTimes4

C | Third, a very very good time again with Sohib. I asked Sohib to join me for cafe hopping and finally tried delicious mille-crêpes in La Réia, a little cute cafe inside Ciputra World, Surabaya. Best friend-talk, yummy dessert plus coffee in one fine afternoon?, how I missed that moment. Another part of good time that day was when I could meet with Atre and Giri again with Sohib. I always feel good when I have a chance to link my friends like what I did to Sohib. I knew he was quite nervous when he met with Atre and Giri for the first time yet I’m sure his mind would open wider on how to have new friends. Inspiring new friends like Atre and Giri? He must be happy for that moment :).

GoodTimes5

GoodTimes6

D | Fourth, let’s throw back to Singapore. I had a good time on my second day there when I finally met Maya! and Ranu ;). How I missed Maya and her cheesiness right now. A good time indeed when I just came back from Jummah prayer, met Maya and ready to explore the day (hope you guys aren’t boring with my late post from Singapore cause I still have a lot of photos from that trip ;)). First stop when we met was for pies and cold lattes at Le Kue. We spent two hours (if i’m not wrong ;P) for best friend talk and free wi-fi for our next destination. Oh, say hi to Ranu! :) He’s as cheesy as his mom, huh?

GoodTimes7

GoodTimes8

E | Fifth, on my last day in Singapore with Maya and Ranu we stopped by at I-am after we went separately in the morning. I went to Gardens by Bay while Maya took Ranu to Bugis mall looking for Minions kids bag (and ended with toys, sigh). It was drizzling a bit that noon and made the day was cool enough (humid Singapore was something). Had to admit that a good time with Maya and Ranu on our last day was quite missed. Sharing rainbow cakes and mille-crepês with both of them was good (though the taste of those eye-candy desserts wasn’t delicious as they look!). I always enjoy my time when Maya starts laughing loudly with ‘who-cares’ feeling for everyone around us ;).

GoodTimes9

GoodTimes10

F | Sixth, how lucky I was when I had a short time in Jakarta extending my visa and finally met Mbak Ririn this year. She is a kind-hearted woman I always excited to meet with. When I knew I had to stay one night in Jakarta after I was done in Embassy I, asked Mbak Ririn if we could meet and it would be exciting if Maya could join us. I though I could meet again with Giri and Atre when they were in Jakarta that time (sadly they had their own event). So, it happened when Maya closed by 21.30 pm and we met near my hotel and went straight to Koi Kemang. It was a good time meeting with Mbak Ririn again! We shared stories and oh, she knew me well and didn’t feel interrupted when I had to move our food to another table near us for pictures ;P. Just because there was a brighter lighting and, how could I resist to keep that moment into photographs?

GoodTimes11

GoodTimes12

G | Seventh, it was such a dream sharing a beautiful Saturday morning with my best friends, Andhi and Sohib (again? ;P). I was beyond happy we had best-friend-talk with desserts and coffees at this cute coffee shop that day (one of my fave green tea latte in Surabaya). We didn’t stop at this cafe only and spent an afternoon with another best friend-talks and Indonesian food for lunch then ended by homemade martabak in my parent’s house. It was a real good time indeed.

GoodTimes13

GoodTimes14

H | The last one was a good time with another best friend of mine that ran away from her house just to see me ;) (I’ll write another story about her that day, later). Cafe hopping in one of the newest coffee shop in town, Caturra Espresso (hope I’m not wrong ;P) plus best friend-talk along with taro and green tea latte was a beautiful day. Sadly the cake wasn’t that delicious but the interior, and the light, and those wide clear glasses is on point. As I wish I had longer time with Mbak Ika that day :).

Well, looking for continuous posts after this hopefully, and hello September!

Today’s Inspirations

Sometimes, inspirations come instantly at nowhere.

I came back to my apartment this afternoon after I spent one night at other Indonesian expatriates’s flats. I rarely spend my Saturday night outside esp when I have no events on the weekend. I pretty happier when I spend it inside my room, chilling and watching movies from my MacBook, snacks of course, and wake up late on Sunday morning. But yesterday, when my two other flatmates asked me to spend there, I said yes to myself. I just wanted to spend my Saturday night quite different.

It was quite fun when I could meet with some familiar faces and some ‘just-met’ yesterday. Having conversation with Indonesian woman who has been living in this country for almost twelve years, I cooked with others, and ate (I should repeat this word three times, ate and ate and ate). Yes, too-much hi-cholesterol food there!. One wasn’t finished, another one came.

My fav moment from my stay was a chance to go to Sunday market with them this morning. Sunday market opens very early only on Sunday at somewhere near their apartment. We went there to shop local fruits & veggies, fresh fishes, butchery, chinese tofu of course, and some other things. I always enjoy traditional market vibes where I can see people doing their activities, selling, bargaining, offering their things to costumer and other simply things. From our visit I went home with fresh prawns, fishes, and tofu. And bonus for me, when I could capture these ‘texture-play’ photos via iPhone 6.

Today'sInspiration1

I always love a moment when I find something interesting around me, take my iPhone and feel happy for clear pictures then. So many interesting objects at the market as I wish people here could me more humble. Well, I think I shouldn’t talk longer, will enjoy my rest of Sunday with my new scented candle. It’s lavender.

Cheers,

-A-

Oh, I thought tomorrow is still Sunday, uh.

Breakfast Scenes Last Week

Jumping to this day from my last post is such a very, very bad thing. But I couldn’t blame myself ignoring this blog for a long due to my weeks was so so terribly hectic (for almost three weeks?damn!). Is there any other word instead of hectic if you had to work from Monday to Sunday, two weeks?. And I’ll have another crazy days this week. So, I better post this before I won’t have time just to share simply breakfast scenes like these (first time I tasted kiwi berries last week :)).

And I hope I can do my best for all my projects this week. I believe I can do it.

Slowly Sunday

I always try to enjoy my off day, I mean, the real off day when I can wake up late and laze a whole day. When I knew that this Sunday I had no event outside, I decided to stay at home doing nothing. Woke up by 10 am after I spent Saturday night watching Jupiter Ascending (sadly, I missed Fifty Shades of Grey!), and for sure, enjoying early lunch with these on my table (I just realised that I didn’t bring some fruits yesterday, uh).

Since I lost my Fossil (plus $100 plus my memory card inside, careless!), I hinge on my iPhone 6 more and more to take picture than on my mirrorless (I haven’t bought new memory card but I have for another Fossil, oops).

Here are some scenes I had last week, from ‘breakfast for the champion’, an afternoon with apple crumble and custard plus tea (best thing was on Monday noon when I had a half day), until juice party in the office (I snapped my ‘strawberry-blackberry-mango’ juice when my office was quite). All iPhone only.

Sunday is almost over here, lemme laze and laze in my chill room cause tomorrow, my plate is full again with some deadlines. Oh, I wanna share some songs that stick in my head recently, they are just beyond brilliant!

November Gifts

This November has become one of the hardest month of work to me.

Even it went so much slower than past years (“ber” months are our hi-season in event industry, fyi) but I had a very stressful project out of town in the first week and spent a week for an event, it was hard indeed. Breakfast at the hotel left a lot to be desired, lunch was rare (imagine if you have to work upside down under the sun and you’re not eating and drinking), and all this on little to no sleep. After that stressful project, I decided to give myself a reward by grabbing some gifts (please don’t judge me as a cool kid who loves spending money for some branded things). This is just the way I thank to myself after I worked so hard :) all via iPhone.

1/ I’m not a ‘perfume’ person but I couldn’t resist to take home this fragrance by Gucci (oh, this sounds ridiculous but I really take attention to the design of perfume bottle before I buy, and I’m looking forward for another fragrance). Well, let’s talk about food :).

2/ I couldn’t say no to a delish treat after I had to survive without proper lunch for days (eek!)Little guys for an evening snack, and….. Belgian chocolate ice cream added with more almonds and yes, more dark chocolate from Trader Joe’s.

Oops, another chocolates completed my home-made mousse pudding with a cup of sugar free tea this noon.

3/ Maybe you guys already seen quite often for strawberry and friends on this blog, but again, I couldn’t resist to have them again and again with yogurt and raw honey for breakfast. For an afternoon snacks (with a lifestyle) was frosted kiwi and assorted berries, such another way to enjoy iced fruits in a hot weather :).

4/ I haven’t done with food. Who can resist fresh prawns? (who?). I cooked spicy chicken and prawns soup with Chinese egg noodles, broccoli, chicken samosa, fried tofu and sweet corn in dumplings like this.

5/ Tara Ramsay to be added to my cook book collection, and a note book I needed for work.

6/ Another fact of me, I’m a fan of Zara, it’s affordable yet quite classy. I got this white crisp shirt from Indonesia through my flatmate when he came back from his annual leave (I really wish there is Zara store here). If I have a wish, this and this and this, would be on my wardrobe someday (now, I give up if you call me ‘cool-kid wannabe’ :P).

When I was painting a pergola for that project with white cellulose, my dark jeans got stain (not only that, my Mickey Mouse tee had too). I knew I enjoyed the work even if I had to do it under the sun. I wish I took a pic from that day so you’ll know that my job isn’t that glamorous :P. I thought that cellulose would easily vanished from it yet I had to get another one. And stretch dark jeans is so so good. And the last one (I promise). I wanted to find backpack but this took my attention (mine is the navy blue one, oh do not know why the price here is higher?, let’s make another wish, this and this are on my waiting list :)).

Well, hello December, let’s work harder for another fancy gifts! :P.
