Bali From an iPhone

I had no plan “plan” spending days in Bali this year when I came home. It was such a grey plan after I thought about Lombok Island where I wanted to spend mostly my time at beaches. I really had a wish I could explore Lombok with my crazy fellas, Maya, Ruli, Ayos and Winda, like we spent at Ranukumbolo (I, II, III, I wrote in Bahasa, oh pardon for those pics!). Sadly, time was an issue. It wasn’t easy to travel where most of them just came back to work while I was the one who really free. I and Ruli thought we could go without three of them and explore Lombok as much as we could. Second “Sadly”, among things I have to do in Indonesia, I had a very, very short time to decide between “Explore (fancy) coffee shops in the town” or “Escape for days to another place” as long as I had time before I had to come back to Africa.

It was a spontaneous plan I and Andhi (my former flatmate when he was in Africa) decided to enjoy Bali together. I and Andhi met that day and it was our first time we went together since he left Africa four months ago. After we spent a day we sat down and talked about Bali. It was a-last-minute plan until we bought three tickets (for me, him and yes, I finally had time to go with my childhood best friend, Sohib, to Bali) and booked hotel. Andhi had a plan to enjoy Dreamfields while I had no plan what and where I wanted to spend. I will share some stories with some pictures I took while we were in Bali separately (I think it’s gonna be more about food post! :P). I realise I didn’t take a lot of pictures while I was there yet these (mostly impromptu) shots from my iPhone could slightly remind me about Bali vibe, for five days. The last one is my fav :).

One of That Precious Noon

This is crazy. I can’t even understand to myself that I’ve ignored this blog for almost two weeks. That was so terrible.

Among all things I have to do while I’m in Indonesia, there is one thing I always love to make every year when I’m home ; sharing an afternoon with stories, food, and coffee with lovely peeps. I felt blessed when I had a chance to sit down with Winda and Ayos, both are my best friend since we were in college. It was our second meeting after I came to their new house (yes, Winda is moving to our town, Surabaya! :)) just few hours after I landed in Indonesia, but it was the first time (I mean in proper way and time) I and this new-married-couple were really sat down and shared stories. Sharing stories with Ayos is always amazing. If you have read this post you’ll know why I adore him. So does Winda.

We spent time for almost four hours that day and I do really want to make it one more time. On Sunday noon, at one of the ‘happening’ new coffee spot in town. Oh, I presented an ordinary yet meaningful (hopefully! :D) wedding gift for them before we left. Some iPhone and some Mirrorless here :)

Hope you guys do not mind to say hi to one of long time best friend of mine, Fahmi. He’ll marry his girl next month which is it will hard for me cause I won’t be around for his big day :(. But I always pray for him, Ayos, Winda and my other best friends for our friendship. Hope we can keep it long last.

I’ll off to Bali tomorrow, hope I can post more posts for this blog when I’m coming back!

Cherries Play

An impromptu shoot this late noon was another experiment of background. If you are a reader of this blog or you have read this post before (oops, I know I wrote that post in Bahasa Indonesia, okay lemme tell you :P), I used my black shirt for that ‘Pecel’ cause I couldn’t find a contrast background. It sounds funny but it is true. I used my ‘I-have-not-ironed-that-shirt’ and I think it was not bad. So, this noon, when I saw my remaining cherries from yesterday breakfast (previous post! :)) in the fridge, my mind thought about something ; let’s play with various backgrounds and, here they are :

All of those background are my shirts and a hoody. I really wish I had a real studio for food photography include props and hm, pro camera :P, the second picture was taken with an iPhone, yup, for Instagram purpose!.

Hello June!

O-maigah. I just had a quick dinner meal and felt blessed. This week such a very, ve-ry hec-tic week. Fiuh, working for five different events at five different venues in the same day was insanely ridiculous. I went upside down (I bet I went a little bit insane, worked two days without food. So poor).

I’m sitting on my bed right now, trying to enjoy every second to say hello to June. Yeay, June means I’m getting closer to go home to Indonesia! :)), Should I start to count down? Nope, still quite far tho (yes, Zis, you’ll have bunch of works in June :|). Okay guys, hope you don’t mind for this gorg, Peony, to brighten up this blog (ssst, she is my fav flower :)). iPhone snaps here.

P.S. Oh you guys who love flowers, FYI, you can see how Soraj Prathnadi snaps simply beautiful flowers in his Instagram :). That one in B&W was white Peony, tho. I love how that version popping up among the Pinkies.

Aw +1

Oh well, +1 finally came. This is a simply way how I appreciate myself by grabbing some new things I needed today. The first one was the only one I needed (after ‘I-dunno-where’ my wallet disappeared two months ago! well, I have a new Fossil, lol!). I grabbed a new cup for my props collection, I bought cakes for myself and colleagues in the office (just a little celebration tomorrow, tho), I wanted to have mini candles when I need silence in my room (reading a book in candle light sounds good!), and the last thing, fruits and almond (I’m going to have a fruitful Monday breakfast!).

P.S. Thank you so much for you guys whom dropped sweet wishes in the air, I do appreciate for everything. Thankios!

On My Table

If you wonder why I love taking picture of my food from top is just because I love to see them arranged fully on my table. I love to see how I put them on the table irregulary, and do a little placement. Sometimes, when I order food in the restaurant, I love to see them scatter on the table. Just like these pics here, when I had time for Sunday lunch with my friends last month, I stopped them for seconds just after the waiter dropped our food. Took my chair and stand on it, took my mirrorless and iPhone, and snapped (its easy to find which and which, amirite?). I dunno, its terrible sometimes, tho.

But I never tire to do this :) (who started #onmytable hastag in instagram guys? you know? :))

Just Take A Little Deep Breath

Recently, I’m having so many things to be done for next week event, an international event. I just came back from the capital city last night after three quite rough days with so many deadlines. Those deadlines woke me up that right now, I’m having a slightly bigger responsibility in the company. It isn’t easy to do brain and physical works in a short time. I found it hard, yet will always try, and try.

I keep telling myself to realise one thing, probably this is my chance to do it well, to do it with a whole heart. And find that someday when I look back, I’ve done a fantastic job. I look at my portfolio that I’ve done it (isn’t it cool? when you can share stories how you work from an event where many head of states from around the world are coming?). Among my responsibilities until next week, I took a little deep breath by enjoying some my fav moment last three days. All taken with an iPhone.

DeepBreath

1. I love the rhythm after rain, in the evening, when the road becomes wet and some street lights give a romantic ambiance, it makes me fall in love, always.

2. An african sunset, so serene. I’ll always find a beauty everytime I see sunset. A different beauty everyday.

3. Again, sunset. So yesterday, the evening sky was quite festive.

Sometimes, when I have a lot of things in my head and it stress me out, I’ll take my headsets and play my fav songs. It helps, music could make everything better (The legend, Bob Marley ever said that “one good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”). A little rest, and take a little deep breath so that you can breath easy, and catch your spirit of life (again), these songs probably are worth to be on your playlist :

Okay then, I have to concentrate to work hard again (I’m going to work hard again for many dreams, well, sometimes I have no weekend tho :|), hope you guys had a good weekend :)

Hello May! I wish for beautiful things happen in this special month!

The Magnificent Seven

DavidBeckham1

If I have to mention one name that inspired me to catch my dreams is the one and only, David Beckham. Apart of Oprah Winfrey, David is an inspiration for me. I’ve been admiring his work ethic since I knew who David was, particularly when he was performed in World Cup 2002, Korea-Japan (I pretty remember when I watched the match between England *England is always be my fav team in World Cup :P* against Argentina in the afternoon, it was my first time I saw David did a sweet revenge).

Truly, I admire David from how he worked so hard since he was in youth. He had something called DREAM (I love this word!) he fight for, to become a great football player someday. And he had worked hard to make it real. This sound cliché, but for me, he did a fantastic journey in his life as a pro footballer. He grew from an ordinary family, practiced what he loved, he did it often, until he got a chance ; a gateway to shine since he had a contract in Manchester United, his dream club, that changed his entire life then.

Another thing I admire from David is how he loves his family. Being a super stylish daddy for four cuties is awesome, and Victoria, I can’t pass her name tho. Both of them are awesome. Even in Victoria I see her in a different way right now. Could you remember how was she in Spice Girls? Are you nineties, reader? :P. Right now, she is one of the hottest fashion designer we can’t deny. I see how she works hard for her longtime passion ; Fashion. The similarity here, they work for their passion. Isn’t it cool?

DavidBeckham12

My mind slightly did a throwback to 12 years ago. Around 2002 when I was in high school, my kind folks, Alam (how are you there, Alam? :)), gave me David’s biography in Bahasa Indonesia version. Since I finished reading that book, I admired David more as a dream catcher. Wahyu K Adhiwiasa, was another kind folks of mine in high school I couldn’t forget, too. He was so kind to me by giving me David’s pictures every time he found it inside his weekly football magazine (he’s a Lazio big fan, FYI). Since then, I’ve collected almost 10K+ pictures, I guess.

I’ve posted David’s biography that I got straight from London, from my kind folks here, as one of my simply little thing. If you ask me how this book is, I’ll tell you. When I had it in my hand and opened it for the first time, I was mesmerised by many beautiful pictures inside (you know me, I love picture, I love taking picture :P). Those picture are so special cause each of them is reflected how’s beautiful his journey, his history as a footballer. I had goosebumps when I read his journey, his ups and downs in his career with pictures attached when he was in MU, Madrid, LA Galaxy, Milan and the last, Paris St Germain. He had proved himself as one of the most well-known footballer in the world. What I love from that is ; “There is always possibilities in life if you have big dreams, if you work hard for it, you can’t even believe what will happen to you sometimes in your future”.

So many beautiful picture inside but here, some my fav pictures I can say “bellissima!”, straight from my iPhone.

Well, Happy Birthday in advance Mr Becks! We are the same May-ers! lol :D

P.S. I’ll be super duper busy weeks ahead, that makes me think to upload this post sooner, I had an idea to post it on 2nd of May, David’s birthday but it doesn’t matter tho :)). So, David, when I can see you in person? Isn’t it a big dream? I love to dream it :)).

Yesterday Me Time

What I love from Sunday is ‘me-time’. Yesterday, I was stayed at home and enjoyed food I love.

Morning, I love the fact that time went so much slower than my daily morning. A bowl of Muesli was perfect. Really. Fresh sliced banana, blackberries, strawberries served with mango yogurt was beyond awesome (I could have breakfast like that everyday!).

Afternoon, woke up from three hours napping. I did need something simply for lunch. Just noodles served with homemade chicken broth, lotta O-oil, raw spinach and boiled egg. Raw pepper and garlic was uh. I felt enough.

Then, late afternoon, it was a simply snack time. A little bit upside down enjoying smoothie not as breakfast but I didn’t think that way cause for me, having smoothie is always perfect. In every time, no?. When I looked at the texture of frozen banana, blackberries, strawberries and yogurt blended together, I just fell in love. I could ask more for a full glass of heaven, definitely.

Pics here are taken both with an iPhone and mirrorless, could you guess which?

Before I had an idea to post this, I was editing some pictures for food-lodge-upcoming post. Nevertheless I found difficulties editing some of them, it means that I have to postpone for a while and try to find inspiration again to present those pictures like what I had in mind. This is just a post how I remind my first iPhone.

Before I used an iPhone, I had Sony Xperia Acro-S that just couple months I left it. I bought it just because I was fooled-mesmerized with the features on the ads especially the waterproof thing. I found myself wasn’t happy with the camera until I realized one thing ; I had no doubt and regret to get an iPhone5 a.k.a my casual camera after all. I’ve enjoyed my first iPhone especially the clearness of its camera then until the last day of 2013, my heart was broken after my iPhone accidentally fell down from 5 feet high. I couldn’t believe what was going on just a second after I tried to capture my wrist watch with an iPhone on my right hand. I thought playing with natural light was good enough just because the afternoon light was clear and bright. Sadly when I was trying to straighten my left hand precisely with the grid on iPhone’s camera, my right hand was slighty shaking and boom, an iPhone laid on the ground immediately. Oh dear God, I couldn’t believe what I saw that day, the screen cracked by pieces.

Hey you! Because of you :(
Hey you! Because of you :(

The function itself is still works yet sadly the price to change the screen only quite costly here. Afterwards I decided to get new one I’m using right now even my flatmate mocked me why I chose the same phone (oh even the new one has double GB memory. 64!) rather than the 5s. I answered that I couldn’t spend ridiculously $400 extra for 32GB of 5s after my own fault? Absolutely such a wise decision I made even yeah I know, 5s’s camera is something else but I mean, why I have to spend so much from my saving money after I made a fault?. Sigh.

O I think I talked too much. I never mind to share this stupid moment here though so lets back to the point. I’ve posted pictures quite many captured with an iPhone, but on this post named ‘iTrace’ I would like to share some of my favorite shots I took randomly three days before bye-bye-iPhone5-moment. This shows a little side of my indulgence in mobile-photography. The last one is one of my fav picture from my 64GB I took on 3rd of January.
